Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering & Pricing
What is the minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantities vary by product:
- Labels & Stickers: 25 units
- Domed Resin Labels: 10 units
- Keyrings: 25 units
- Nameplates & Badges: 10 units
For larger quantities, we offer significant volume discounts. Please use the quantity selector on each product page to see pricing at different quantities.
How are your prices calculated?
Our prices are based on the product type, size, quantity, and any additional options such as finish or custom shapes. Prices shown on each product page include all printing and production costs. The more you order, the lower the per-unit price. Select your options on the product page to see your exact price.
Do you offer bulk discounts?
Yes! We offer tiered pricing across all our products. The more you order, the more you save. Bulk discounts are automatically applied when you select higher quantities on the product page. For very large orders (5,000+ units), please contact us for a bespoke quote.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major payment methods including:
- Visa, Mastercard, American Express
- PayPal
- Bank transfer (for trade accounts)
All payments are processed securely through our encrypted payment gateway.
Can I get a quote before placing an order?
Absolutely! You can get an instant price by selecting your options on any product page. For custom or bespoke requirements, please contact us or call us on 01482 653790 and we'll provide a detailed quotation within 24 hours.
Do prices include VAT?
Prices displayed on our website exclude VAT. VAT at the current rate (20%) will be added at checkout for UK customers. Trade customers with valid VAT numbers may be eligible for VAT exemption on qualifying orders.
Can I reorder a previous order?
Yes! If you have an account with us, you can view your order history and easily reorder. We keep your artwork and specifications on file, so repeat orders are quick and straightforward. Simply contact us with your previous order number.
Artwork & Design
What file formats do you accept for artwork?
We accept the following file formats:
- Preferred: Adobe Illustrator (.ai), EPS, PDF (vector formats)
- Accepted: High-resolution JPEG, PNG, SVG (minimum 300dpi at actual print size)
Vector formats (AI, EPS, PDF) produce the best results as they can be scaled without any loss of quality. If you only have a low-resolution file, please contact us and we may be able to recreate your artwork.
Can you design my artwork for me?
Yes! We offer a professional design service. Simply provide us with your logo, text, and any specific requirements, and our design team will create your artwork. We'll send you a digital proof for approval before production begins. Contact us at sales@randmarkings.com to discuss your design requirements.
Will I receive a proof before production?
Yes, always. Before we begin production, we will send you a digital proof showing exactly how your finished product will look. Production only starts after you have approved the proof. This ensures you are completely happy with the design, colours, and layout before we print.
What colour mode should my artwork be in?
All artwork should be supplied in CMYK colour mode for print. If you supply RGB artwork, we will convert it to CMYK, but please note that some colours may shift slightly during conversion. Pantone colours can be matched but will be converted to the nearest CMYK equivalent.
Can I use my brand's Pantone colours?
We print using CMYK process printing, so Pantone colours will be converted to their closest CMYK equivalent. While we achieve excellent colour accuracy, please note that exact Pantone spot colour matching is not possible with digital CMYK printing. If you have strict colour requirements, please contact us to discuss.
What resolution should my images be?
For the best print quality, all raster images (JPEG, PNG) should be a minimum of 300dpi at the actual print size. Images taken from websites are typically 72dpi and will not print clearly. If you're unsure about your image quality, send it to us and we'll check it for you.
Products & Materials
What is a domed resin label?
A domed resin label (also known as a 3D label, gel badge, or domed sticker) is a printed label with a crystal-clear polyurethane resin dome applied over the top. The dome creates a stunning 3D effect that catches the light, making your branding stand out. The resin dome also protects the print from scratches, UV damage, chemicals, and general wear, making domed labels extremely durable and long-lasting.
What is the difference between labels and stickers?
Functionally, labels and stickers are very similar — both are self-adhesive printed products. In practice:
- Labels are typically used for product identification, packaging, and branding. They tend to be more functional.
- Stickers are often used for marketing, promotions, decoration, and giveaways. They tend to be more creative.
We use the same high-quality materials for both, so the distinction is mainly about intended use rather than the product itself.
What materials are your labels made from?
We use a range of premium materials depending on the product type:
- Vinyl: Durable, waterproof, UV resistant — ideal for indoor/outdoor use
- Paper: Smooth finish, ideal for product packaging and food labels
- Polypropylene: Waterproof, oil-resistant — perfect for wet environments
- Aluminium: Industrial-grade for equipment and asset marking
- Polyurethane Resin: Used for domed labels — crystal clear, scratch-resistant
Are your labels waterproof?
Our vinyl labels, polypropylene labels, and domed resin labels are all fully waterproof. They can withstand rain, splashes, condensation, and even submersion. Paper labels are not waterproof but can be laminated for moisture resistance. If you need labels for a wet environment, we recommend our waterproof labels range.
How durable are domed resin labels?
Extremely durable! The polyurethane resin dome provides outstanding protection:
- Scratch and abrasion resistant
- UV stable — won't yellow or fade
- Chemical resistant
- Temperature resistant (-40°C to +120°C)
- Expected outdoor lifespan: 5-7+ years
This makes them perfect for equipment branding, automotive badges, and any application that requires long-term durability.
What adhesive do your labels use?
We use high-quality permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive as standard. This bonds firmly to most smooth surfaces including metal, plastic, glass, and painted surfaces. For rough or textured surfaces, we offer high tack adhesive labels with extra-strong bonding power. If you need removable labels, please ask about our removable adhesive option.
What shapes and sizes are available?
We offer a wide range of standard shapes including rectangle, square, circle, and oval. Most products are available in sizes from 10mm up to 200mm+. We can also produce custom shapes — simply send us your outline and we'll create a die to your exact specifications. Use the size selector on each product page to choose from available options, or select "Custom Size" for bespoke dimensions.
What types of keyrings do you offer?
We offer three main types of keyrings:
- Metal Keyrings: Premium chrome-finish keyrings with domed logo inserts. Available in multiple styles (Columbia, Orion, Scorpio, Vega).
- Acrylic Keyrings: Lightweight clear acrylic with full-colour printing. Available in rectangle, circle, and custom shapes. Optional domed resin finish.
- Custom Keyrings: Bespoke keyrings manufactured to your exact requirements in any material, shape, and finish.

If you need to make changes, please contact us as soon as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate your request.
Domed Resin Labels
How does the doming process work?
The doming process involves three steps:
- Printing: Your artwork is digitally printed in full colour onto a self-adhesive substrate
- Die Cutting: Labels are precision cut to your chosen shape and size
- Doming: A measured amount of crystal-clear two-part polyurethane resin is dispensed onto each label. The resin self-levels to create a perfect dome shape, then cures (hardens) over 24-48 hours
The result is a premium 3D label with a glass-like finish that catches the light beautifully.
What surfaces can domed labels be applied to?
Domed labels adhere well to most smooth, clean, dry surfaces including:
- Metal (aluminium, stainless steel, chrome)
- Plastic (ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic)
- Glass
- Painted surfaces
- Powder-coated surfaces
For rough or textured surfaces, we recommend our high tack domed labels which feature extra-strong adhesive. The surface should be clean and free from oil, dust, and moisture before application.
How do I apply domed labels?
Applying domed labels is straightforward:
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from oil or dust (wipe with isopropyl alcohol for best results)
- Peel the domed label from its backing sheet
- Position carefully — the adhesive bonds quickly
- Press firmly from the centre outward to remove any trapped air
- Allow 24 hours for full adhesive bond strength
Apply at room temperature (15-25°C) for best results. Avoid applying in extreme cold or heat.
Can domed labels be removed?
Domed labels use permanent adhesive and are designed to stay in place. Removing them requires effort — typically using a heat gun to soften the adhesive, then carefully peeling. Some adhesive residue may remain which can be cleaned with adhesive remover. If you need labels that can be easily removed and repositioned, domed labels are not the right choice — consider our removable vinyl labels instead.
What is the maximum size for domed labels?
The maximum recommended size for domed labels is approximately 150mm x 100mm. Beyond this size, the resin dome becomes very thick and heavy, which can affect adhesion and the dome's structural integrity. For larger branding applications, we recommend our standard vinyl labels or aluminium plates instead. The sweet spot for domed labels is typically between 20mm and 80mm.
Can I have a metallic or coloured background on my domed label?
Yes! We can print on metallic silver or metallic gold substrates to create a stunning metallic effect beneath the clear dome. We can also print any solid colour background. The clear dome magnifies and enhances whatever is printed beneath it, so metallic finishes look particularly impressive.

The minimum order for all our keyrings is 50 units. Volume discounts are available with prices reducing significantly at 100, 150, 250, 500, and 1000 units.
What is the difference between metal and flexi-fob keyrings?
Metal keyrings (Stellar Collection) have a polished chrome body with domed resin label inserts. They feel premium and heavyweight.
Flexi-fob keyrings have a flexible rubber body with domed resin labels. They are lightweight, durable, and offer excellent value for larger quantities.
Can I have different artwork on each side?
Yes! Double-sided keyrings can have different designs on each side. Many customers put their logo on one side and contact details on the other.
How are the labels attached to the keyrings?
Your artwork is printed in full colour, then a crystal-clear polyurethane resin dome is applied over the print. This creates a stunning 3D effect while protecting the print from scratches and wear. The domed label is then permanently bonded to the keyring body.
What file format do you need for keyring artwork?
We accept AI, EPS, PDF (vector formats preferred), or high-resolution JPEG/PNG at minimum 300dpi at actual print size. We will send a digital proof for your approval before production.

Standard production time is 5–7 working days after proof approval. Rush production may be available — please contact us if you have an urgent deadline.
Do keyrings come in presentation boxes?
Yes! Metal keyrings from the Stellar Collection come individually boxed in branded presentation boxes. Flexi-fob keyrings are supplied in bulk packaging. Gift boxing is available for flexi-fobs at an additional cost.
Are there delivery charges for keyrings?
Carriage charges apply based on quantity: 50 units £7.00, 100 units £8.50, 150 units £10.00, 250 units £12.50, 500 units £14.00, 1000 units £18.00. Orders over £99 qualify for free standard delivery.
