Printed aluminium labels are thin, rigid metal plates with your logo, text or artwork printed directly onto the surface in full colour, giving you a durable, professional marker that looks like metal because it is metal, at a fraction of the cost of engraving. They are the practical choice when you need something tougher than a sticker and smarter than a plain label, for equipment, assets, products or fittings that have to carry information clearly for years.
What are printed aluminium labels?
They are flat aluminium plaques, usually a couple of millimetres thick, with your design printed onto the metal in full colour rather than stamped, etched or engraved. Because the print sits on a metal base rather than paper or vinyl, you get sharp graphics, small text and even photographs or barcodes reproduced clearly, with the strength and weight of a proper metal plate behind them.
They suit businesses and individuals who need something more permanent than a paper label but do not need the cost or lead time of traditional engraving. Manufacturers, workshops, landlords, tradespeople and facilities teams all use them for the same reason: they need a label that stays legible and stays put, indoors or out, without fading or peeling within a season.
How they are made
We start from aluminium sheet cut to your chosen size and shape, then print your artwork onto it using full-colour digital print. This means logos, colour panels, gradients and fine detail all come out sharp, not just single colour text like traditional engraved plates. Once printed, the surface is sealed to protect the ink and give it resistance to scuffing, sunlight and general handling.
Corners can be squared or rounded, and we can add fixing holes for screws, or leave the back plain for self-adhesive mounting or cable tying, depending on where the label needs to go. Every design goes through our print process the same way, so a batch of one hundred identical labels comes out consistent, plate to plate.
Best uses
Printed aluminium labels earn their keep anywhere a label needs to survive real conditions and still be read at a glance.
- Asset and equipment tagging for machinery, tools and IT hardware, including serial numbers or QR codes
- Electrical panel and control cabinet labelling where clarity and durability both matter
- Product identification plates fixed to housings, enclosures or fabricated units
- Rating plates and specification labels for manufactured goods and installations
- Outdoor signage on gates, sheds, plant rooms and site fencing that has to cope with weather
- Health and safety or compliance labelling in workshops and warehouses
Sizes, shapes and options
Every order is made to order, so you tell us the size, shape and quantity you need rather than picking from a fixed catalogue. Small batches are no problem if you only need a handful of labels, and unit price falls as the quantity goes up, so if you are labelling a whole fleet of equipment or a full production run, ordering in bulk brings the cost per label down noticeably. We can match sizes to existing labels you are replacing, or work from scratch if this is a new project.
Why choose Rand Markings
- Made in Hull. Every plate is printed and finished at our UK workshop, so you are dealing with the people actually making your labels, not a reseller.
- Full-colour printing. Logos, colour branding and fine detail print accurately, not just a single flat colour.
- Free digital proof. You see and approve exactly how your label will look before we print anything, so there are no surprises on arrival.
- Bulk pricing that actually helps. Order more and the unit price drops, useful whether you need five labels or five hundred.
- Durable finish. The sealed print resists fading, scuffing and outdoor weathering far better than a paper or basic vinyl label.
- Fast turnaround and free delivery. Around 5 to 7 working days from proof approval to dispatch, with free UK delivery on orders over £99, and if you also need branding elsewhere, our custom labels range covers softer, self-adhesive options for lighter duty jobs.

Care & Application Guide
Surface Preparation
- Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from oil, dust, or grease
- Wipe with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for best adhesion results
- Allow the surface to dry completely before application
- Apply at room temperature (15–25°C) for optimal bonding
Application Steps
- Carefully peel the label from its backing sheet
- Position on the prepared surface — adhesive bonds quickly on contact
- Press firmly from the centre outward to remove trapped air
- Apply even pressure across the entire label for 30 seconds
- Allow 24–48 hours for full adhesive bond strength
Avoid
- Applying in extreme cold or heat
- Touching the adhesive surface with fingers
- Applying to wet, oily, or dusty surfaces
- Repositioning after initial placement
Storage & Best Practices
- Store labels flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
- Use within 12 months of purchase for best results
- Test on a small area first if unsure about surface compatibility
- Contact us for advice on difficult or unusual surfaces
Suitable Surfaces
Our labels adhere to most smooth, clean surfaces including metal, plastic, glass, painted surfaces, powder-coated finishes, and polished wood. For rough, textured, or low-energy surfaces, we recommend our High Tack adhesive range.
